Middle/Senior Developer (any programming language)
Do you want to join us on an ambitious mission to secure the digital world? Keepit is looking for a developer to join our Internal Tooling Team in Krakow, Poland.
Keepit is looking for developers eager to switch to Common Lisp from any back-end language.
We are growing fast as a company and do our best to bring our SaaS cloud-based backup services to the global audience.
Our platform is designed to provide customers with an immutable historical archive of their primary data in systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Entra ID, Dynamics 365, and Zendesk. It aims to protect them against everything, from ransomware to simple accidents.
Most of our back-end components are written in clean, modern C++ using mainly purpose-built components and STL. Several components that deal with business processes and data mining are built using Common Lisp. Everything runs on Linux.
At Keepit we use Common Lisp for metadata extraction from large datasets, storage lifecycle management, resource accounting, and complex test suites. We want to expand our team to grow our ability to solve more of these interesting problems in the future.
Why Common Lisp?
Common Lisp is, as the only truly programmable programming language, the most powerful programming language in existence. It is also interesting because it supports interactive development, allowing one to inspect the intermediate results and data structures. It also supports recompiling a single function in an already running program (similar to hot reloading), making it fast to try out changes. Common Lisp is a mature and stable language. It is a multi-paradigm, supporting both functional and object-oriented programming.
Once one is past the hurdles of learning Common Lisp and (one of) the preferred IDEs, such as Emacs with Sly, it provides a really great and unique developer experience.
